In the role of Electrical Architect - High-Voltage you will be responsible for all aspects related to the high voltage system of the electric car. Your focus will be on creating a safe and functional system, optimizing the energy usage of these components and taking care of EMC. Basically, you will cover all the systems we need to go from solar energy to forward movement. In setting up the architecture you will have a keen eye on the nonfunctional requirements as well: cost, manufacturability, power usages, maintainability, serviceability, etc.

While the high voltage system is your prime focus, your role isn’t limited to these framed tasks and responsibilities:

• Translate high level requirements into requirements for sub-systems

• Write requirement and specification documents

• Asses performance and functionality

• Check feasibility and correctness of requirements

• Have an eye for the non-functionals such as maintainability and testability

• Have an eye for optimization

• Quantify the performance of different architecture choices and optimize architecture choices according to the cost function

• Review architectures of other systems

• Check on (electrical) integration feasibility

• Have an eye for functional safety

• Have an eye for EMC

• Define failure modes / FMEA / FTA

• Apply functional safety with the help of functional safety engineers

• Analyze use cases to define electrical characteristics

• Make (electrical) architectural concepts based on requirements

• Make (electrical) architecture designs based on requirements

• Enrich (electrical) architecture designs with the details required at the right moment in time

• Review functional safety architectures (HARA, Technical Safety Concept, ASIL decomposition, FMEA, FTA, etc) (ISO26262)

• Coach juniors architects to become senior architects

• Create awareness throughout the company for making the right tradeoffs

• Create awareness throughout the company for EMC

• Initiate the right discussions at the right time

• Make the right decisions at the right time

You will become part of the Electrical Architecting team and the High Volume Series will be your first project. We will deliver cars in high volume around 2024-2025 and are currently working on converting our stakeholder needs into vehicle requirements. From the vehicle requirements system architects are responsible for the system breakdown. Together with your fellow electrical architects you will be responsible for making the electrical architectures at various levels in the system breakdown: the electrical part of the complete vehicle breakdown for the new Lightyear car.

Furthermore, we think the following is needed to fulfill the role of Electrical Architect - High Voltage:

• Have a professional or academic educational background and experience in the Electrical Engineering

• 7+ years experience as architect or senior electrical engineer in industrial or automotive electronics and electrical engineering

• Experience in working with Electrical Standards

• The candidate needs to live within a radius of 110 km from the factory location in Helmond. Or he/she is willing to relocate within a radius of 110 km of Helmond.

Besides the above listed tasks and responsibilities, knowledgeable in:

• Broad Electrical Engineering

• Power Electronics

• Electronic systems analysis, modeling and control

• EMI principles (EMC)

• High voltage (automotive, <1000V)

• State of the art automotive EV drive-trains

• Electrical schematics

You should be able to (occasionally) guide people on:

• Develop models in Matlab/Simulink/PLECS

• Design electrical circuits (concept design)

• Lead multidisciplinary design trade-offs

Having knowledge on and/or experience in the following is a plus:

• Electronics

• ECE R10 (Automotive EMC)

• IEC 61851 (electric vehicle conductive charging systems)

• Experience with HV Safety, preferably in the automotive industry (HV Battery, HV/LV Converter, Onboard Charger, inverter).

• Design with cost saving, ease of installation and servicing in mind

• Have an eye for electrical safety

• Have an eye for durability and reliability

• Analyze use cases for maintenance and production to define electrical characteristics

• Develop models in LTSpice

• Design electrical circuits (detailed design)

• Create schematics

• Create wiring schematics

• Design wiring 3D CAD models

• Chair design reviews

• Identify multidisciplinary design trade-offs

• Create safety grounding architectures

• Create safety insulation architectures

• Coordinate with company management / vehicle / macro systems / components levels

Personally, you consider yourself a team-player while being decisive. Furthermore, you are open-minded and bring a high level of creativity.

NOTE: Candidates that just have experience in wiring aren't enough!


€5500 - 8500 gross salary a month

Holiday allowance: 8%

€100 education budget per month

• Relocation is possible. Our customer works with an external company to facilitate the relocation with primarily housing.

• Travel allowance of 0,19 cents per km, with a maximum of 220 km per day.
