As a data modeler you are responsible for developing the data models for the different data layers in the data environment of my customer. You analyze source system information models and iteratively refine the conceptual, logical, and physical data models used in the data warehouse environment. This data will be modeled into dimensional data marts that will be used by the Tableau front-end end users. The data modeler will work with developers to determine the best representation for the data that supports that business process. Data modelers work with the business, data analysts, business intelligence experts and data science teams on modeling of the curated data and the common semantic layer.

Future Data Foundation & Insights Project (FDFI)

Within the FDFI team the customer is taking a greenfield approach to the entire data landscape.
They are moving to Tableau as a front end tool and they are using AWS as their cloud provider, but everything from the data warehouse to scheduling, data governance and data quality tooling is being looked at.

There are also multiple programs running where they move to Salesforce for a lot of their source systems for example.

It is a dynamic environment with a lot going on, but you will have the chance to create the new standards for the data models to be used in the future.

Data Insight Team

Within the Data Insights team they know the roles product owner, scrum master, analyst, data engineer, infra specialist and MicroStrategy specialist. Their common goal is to make data work for their customers and candidates.

The team is responsible for the Management Information System.

Their data engineers integrate and transform the data from the different systems and then load it into their data warehouse. Accuracy, completeness and timeliness are paramount, with the performance and stability in mind. If the data is in their data warehouse, their MicroStrategy specialists will create the semantic / schema layer, the attributes and the metrics. The result is a self-service environment for creating reports and dashboards. In addition, they develop standard reports and dashboards that are used throughout the organization.


What do we expect from you?

• You have at a few years experience developing in java
• Knowledge of data governance
• Knowledge of data management
• Extensive knowledge of DWH and BI concepts (Kimball, Datavault 2.0, virtualization)
• Extensive knowledge of BI architecture
• Extensive experience with dimensional modeling and related tools
• Experience with information and data analysis

It would be nice if you also have:

• Knowledge of Salesforce
• Knowledge of Human Resourcing
• Experience with cloud infrastructure
• Agile WoW
